JONAH HEYL

ABOUT 

Jonah Heyl, is currently an honours student in economics, at the University of British Columbia, and plans to major in mathematics. He has taken a variety of courses across both UVic and UBC in microeconomics, macroeconomics, real analysis's, statistics, computer science and calculus.He also has work experience in accounting and finance. He has a  broad base of knowledge and interests, allowing him to solve a variety of problems from the ground up.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Jonah did a variety of tasks, involving bookkeeping, financial statements, and taxation.This opportunity gave him hands on experience with accounting and  finance.

Jul 2017

COLLIERS INTERNATIONAL

Jonah completed an  internship at Colliers; where, he learned about commercial real-estate management.

BA  HONOURS ECONOMICS  (IN PROGRESS) UBC

Jonah recently transferred from UVic into the UBC economics honours program. He has completed intermediate macroeconomics, intermediate microeconomics and real analysis at UBC (econ 304, econ 305, math 319).

BS, ECONOMICS AND FINANCIAL MATHEMATICS. UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA

Jonah's relevant coursework from UVic is, Micro/Macro Economics (Intermediate), Introduction to Python , Financial Accounting, Management Finance, Statistics (I,II)  and differential equations/vector calculus (calc IV).

Jonah has also received a 9/10 on the SOA/CIA P-exam (probability examination).

PROJECTS

GOVENORS CHALLANGE

Jonah was selected from a pool of over a hundred applicants to compete on UBC's Governor's Challenge team.As a team they prepared a policy recommendation for the Bank of Canada, and built a projection for GDP growth and inflation into 2022.

AUGMENTED SIR (COVID-19 MODEL)

This project entailed building a sophisticated differential model for COVID-19 to predict government restrictions for COVID-19 two years into the future.This project was used in the Governor's Challenge.
